Struggling with keeping up with the terminals

## Pros and cons

Pros:
Runs Claude Code, Codex and other agents straight from the notch: live status while they work, tool approvals
inline, and the full transcript one click away. No terminal window kept open just to watch a session.
Everything else you glance at lives there too: music with lyrics and animated album covers, today's tasks and
timers, calendar and reminders, voice memos with playback and a waveform, a file tray with AirDrop, and live CPU,
memory and disk.
One surface that morphs between states instead of a row of menu bar icons, and it gets out of the way when
nothing is happening.
Cons:
It drives your agents rather than replacing them, so each CLI has to be installed and signed in first.
The microphone, Calendar and Reminders features sit empty until you grant those permissions, which is easy to
miss.
Ad-hoc signed for now, so the first launch needs the right-click then Open step.

## Conclusion

if your day is an agent running and music playing, Drop Notch puts both where you are already looking. I replaced a few menu bar apps for me, plus the terminal window I used to keep open just to watch a session. It is early and it shows in places, but the parts I use every day are quick and solid, and it gets noticeably better week to week.
